During the Americas Winter Championship the new 4-drop was revealed, making Secret Paladins shake tremble with fear.

As promised, a new card of The Whispers of the Old Gods expansion was revealed during the tournament. Similar to another 4-drop, [card]Kezan Mystic[/card], this tentacle-bearded Neutral minion counters Secrets. Its effect has the potential of being extremely powerful, especially against Secret Paladin, as mentioned before. The popular Paladin deck plays - depending on the build - 3 to 5 different Secrets, which are all put in play at once by [card]Mysterious Challenger[/card]. This would mean that Eater of Secrets would grow to an average of a 6/8 minion - fairly decent for 4 mana. To be noted is, however, that the strength of post-Standard Secret Paladin is yet to be discovered, as [card]Avenge[/card] will be rotated out of the meta.

Another strong deck to counter with Eater of Secrets is Freeze Mage. Some players have teched in the earlier mentioned Kezan Mystic, but that card too will be rotated out of the meta.
