The four-player tie-breakers are scheduled for the coming days and only one name can move on to the playoffs.

It’s been long months of online competition for the 16 players in HPL, having to go through a massive round-robin stage. And by last week, the tournament found seven of its eight playoff participants as the group stage came to a close.

Complexity’s David “Dog” Caero topped the league with an unparalleled 11-4 record. The American has been on fire recently, not dropping below 68% win-rate since the start of June and is one of the highest ranked players in North America and the world at the moment. Two more players from the American region followed with Ryan “Purple” Murphy-Root and Paul “Zalae” Nemeth sharing the #2 spot with 10-5. In that same boat is Jeffrey “Sjow” Brusi who also showed consistency during the season.

The rest of the “playoff seven” include Sjow’s team-mate in Liquid Yevgeniy “Neirea” Shumilin and Hearthlytics’ Justin “JAB” Black and Muzahidul “Muzzy” Islam.

The final eighth spot will be decided after a four-man tiebreaker this week forced by Erik “ErA” Anderssen after winning both of his last matches last week. ErA is now placed in a round-robin group with the other 7-8 players, who are Jokull “Kaldi” Johannsson, Dima “Rdu” Radu and Hak-Jun “Kranich” Baek.

Although the playoffs line-up is almost completed, the bracket itself won’t be played any time soon, according to previous reports, and will likely happen in November after the World Championship.
