The next Hearthstone patch will introduce a brand new feature to the game to add to Play Mode, Solo Adventures and Arena.

Today, Blizzard revealed the function of this new button to be a brand new mode! The new mode is set to pit you against another opponent to battle under a set of guidelines, which are said to change with every Tavern Brawl. According to the article posted on Battle.net earlier, the challenges could feature games with preset decks, or playing with a deck build set around specific guidelines. It kind of sounds like a similar concept to Kripparian's Challengestone tournament that everyone can play.

Well. Almost everyone. Although Tavern Brawl has free admission, there is an entry requirement for the player to have a hero at at least level 20 before they can enter. However, when you do enter, upon winning your first game you will be rewarded with a free card pack.

When inside the Tavern Brawl mode, you are able to 'Brawl with Buddies' by challenging the people on your Friends List to compete against. It has not yet been mentioned how players will be matched up against each other but what was mentioned that Tavern Brawl will go down every so often for a few days whilst the next one is being set up, complete with a new set of rules and conditions to test the competitors.

The end of the post again referenced the new hero skins coming to Hearthstone as well as teasing silhouettes for the Mage's and Hunter's alternate portraits. Also, coming with the next patch update is the ability to customize each deck with a specific card back.
