Both groups of death were played last night, and with the last survivors moving on, the quarter final pairings are done.
Many who voted in our “Group of Death” poll determined Group C to be the one. With esteemed names like Roger, Reynad and Ostkaka – as well as unknown player wwlos – one could see their reasoning. The Taiwanese player has been absolutely on fire recently, finishing second in HouseCup #2 and top four in HouseCup #3, his list of “victims” including names like Rdu, ThijsNL and SilentStorm. Roger did not disappoint in his ESL Legendary finals matches either. He opened with a 3-1 against Reynad and another 3-1 against wwlos moved him to the playoffs. On top of his form, Roger might very well be looking forward to taking his first championship.
Tempo Storm captain Reynad followed him after tense series against Ostkaka and wwlos. The popular streamer remained true to his vocal and edgy character, saying in a post-game interview how Patron Warrior needs a nerf from Blizzard, if he can play it poorly and still win.
In the quarter finals, Reynad will be facing Lifecoach who’s fresh out of his HouseCup victory. The Nihilum player crushed his opening game against Th3Rat but almost lost it in the winners game as Vietnamese player PHONETAP gave him a run for his money, dragging the series to all five games. Even though he lost there, PHONETAP was rewarded for his stellar play and eliminated reigning ESL Legendary Series champion SilentStorm 3-2 and will move on to face Roger in the quarter finals.
In the other two matches, Demigod plays Domdus in a battle between two “underground” names and Trump will be sparring Kitkatz in another all-American face-off.
