Lewis "Blackout" Spencer and James "Greensheep" Luo will meet in the concluding match of DreamHack Valencia, splitting the lion's share of the prize money for the UK and Team Dignitas.
Neither Blackout, nor Greensheep stood out as clear favorites for DreamHack Valencia. Amidst the pool of better performing contenders, they were a duo of one player who was just waking up from inactivity and another who had won a total of six games since March.
This changed these last two days in Valencia. Both ended up first in their groups and made it through to the playoffs, being placed on the opposite sides of the bracket. Blackout started his run with a tough 3-2 against Czech player Pokrovac and followed it up by ousting two local Spaniards, TheFallen and Thalai, each with 3-1.
On the other side of the playoffs, Greensheep took a decisive 3-0 against Portuguese player Galvao before moving to who was supposed to be his toughest opponent yet, TempoStorm’s Gaara. The young Brit, however, showed no signs of weakness and was once again flawless in his run. Another 3-0 against Frenchman Weasel followed, making Greensheep the second grand finalist and the best performing player in the tournament so far.
Greensheep and Blackout will split the majority of the $10,000 prize pool, with the winner taking $5,000 and runner-up going home with $2,500.
