"My heart was beating so hard in the last turns, it was so close," shared Aaronhoh after his victory after beting Hovati16.
Near 170 players signed up for the third regular edition of GosuCup SEA with $100 on the line and after seven rounds those went to the Singaporean up-and-comer.
Aaronkoh had a relatively smooth sailing through the early rounds and was 14-2 after the semi finals. This is when he met his toughest opponent yet - Hovati16 from Vietnam, who was determined to claim another trophy for his home after the successes of DaPh (GosuCup #2) and Condauco (GosuCup #4). The grand final went set for set and grilled Aaronkoh through all five games before the Hovati kneeled before the Singaporean player.
Aaronkoh not only banks the deserved $100 but he also joins the $500 grand finals line-up in February. Hovati16 will also be there as a runner-up alongside Keruya from the Philippines who overpowered another Vietnamese player, Luhanluan1, in the bronze final.

In the nation standings, Vietnam is now the uncontested leader. With two top 4 finalists and two more quarter finalists this week, the country is at 25 points, good eight before the tied for second Philippines and Singapore. Vietnam's dominance is so strong, in fact, that in the five GosuCup SEA tournaments held so far, they've had two winners and two runner-ups and a total of ten top 8 finishers.
With Aaronkoh's victory, Singapore climbed out of the bottom it was in a couple of weeks ago. Known as one of the strongest countries in the region and the winner of the first eHL Season, Singapore is starting to flex its muscles and is contesting the Philippines for the second place. Righte underneath them is Indonesia, which didn't have a strong showing this week and banked no points.
