Yesterday marked the start of 2015's HearthStats Challenger League and the 40-player pool is now cut to 24.

Yesterday, 2015’s HearthStats League kicked off with a bang, as 40 players faced off in a Bo5 format in five groups. The winners advanced to the next round of challenger league games, while the losers are out of the tournament and will have to re-qualify from next season’s Grinder’s League. It’s a long road to elimination in the HearthStats League, but an even longer road to victory.

In the first round, Hearthstone veteran Sebastian “Xixo” Bentert faced off against Complexity’s Dan “Alchemixt” Walton. Xixo took the match down 2-0 and didn’t stop there. Xixo crushed his round 2 and 3 opponents to advance with a flawless 6-0 rating.

James “Greensheep” Luo  was also ready for action, winning all three matches to advance with an astonishing 6-1 rating. Another big name on the scene in Adrian “Lifecoach” Koy, however, didn’t fare as well. He won his first match 2-0, but lost a game in the next match, pulling off a close victory. In his last match however, he lost. Due to losing a game earlier, he was tied with another player, a tiebreaker had to be played which would become the end of Lifecoach.

George "Hyped" Manganzini of Tempo Storm also had some close matches. He advanced at 6-2, after having won his three games at 2-1, 2-1, and 2-0 respectfully.

The games continue today so tune in to the HearthStats League stream as well as our written coverage to find out how your favorite Hearthstone players do!
