King of the Hill tournaments are sprouting out of the earth like crazy in Blizzard's popular game Hearthstone. After IhearthU and ESL have already adapted that format, MachinimaVS and ChanmanV are introducing their new concept of the KotH series with Kungen and Trump battling in the debut. For a long time, the King of the Hill concept of tournament has been widely popular in eSports games such as StarCraft: Broodwar, Warcraft 3, StarCraft 2 or even team based games such as Heroes of Newerth. Hearthstone adapted that concept a while ago with IHearthU's version of it going into the 12th edition today, but other organizers have also broached that fan favorite format. A week ago NESL announced their King of the Hill tournament and now ChanmanV and MachinimaVS are teaming up for their newest KotH project "Deck Wars". Overall the format will remain the same as the good old KotH - two players face each other and the winner stays for another week, getting the chance to win more money and esteem. The major draw that the announcement of "Deck Wars" has is the star power behind it. The original announcement on reddit is not only giving away the debut series between former WoW star Kungen and the Mayor of Value Town Trump, but also hinting the presence of stars such as Reynad, Savjz, StrifeCro or Razor. For now those names are in the future, as the opener will be Kungen against Trump. Both players are very well known in the community, but the competitive Hearthstone edge might be with Trump here. He was a part of the Inkeeper Invitational at Blizzcon, had a short reign on the throne in IHearthU's version of the King of the Hill format, while also attending all three seasons of Fight Night. Kungen on the other hand is more known as a ladder player at this point, reaching the Legendary ranks in the first two seasons, currently striving for the third consecutive Legendary spot in all seasons. It will be a hard-fought battle between the two combatants for the glory of being the first ever King of this tournament. The show will start this Friday at 14:00 PST (17:00 EST/23:00 PM CET) with the big headliner between two of the biggest streamers in the Hearthstone community. So the hype machine is running already on natural fuel and reputation of those two, but ChanmanV is adding a little bit of extra excitement by posting a preview screen of the production.
