The upcoming God of War TV show has reportedly suffered a setback.

Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming TV adaptation of God of War (2018) has reportedly suffered a major setback. According to TMZ, its star Ryan Hurst, who plays Kratos in the series, tore his bicep during filming. Now, the outlet reports that filming for the series might get pushed back all the way to 2027.

Is Amazon’s God of War TV show getting delayed?

TMZ reports this week that Amazon’s God of War series might get its filming pushed back all the way to 2027. Reportedly, Kratos actor Ryan Hurst was injured while filming a stunt for the TV series. Although details on the exact nature of this stunt were not given, TMZ stated that Hurst tore his bicep, causing an injury that proved so severe that he now requires surgery.

The outlet reports that the series’ producers were hoping to have Hurst back in the series by mid-August, but the actor’s surgery might make that impossible. Thus, filming for the series could be delayed to 2027, depending on how long Hurst takes to recover from the surgery.

Amazon has not officially confirmed any production delays for the God of War adaptation just yet, however. The series stars Ryan Hurst (who also played Thor in God of War: Ragnarok) as Kratos, while Callum Vinson will play Atreus. The series also recently locked in Ed Skrein to play Baldur, along with Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Thor, Mandy Patinkin as Odin, Alastair Duncan as Mimir, and Danny Woodburn and Jeff Gulka as brothers Brok and Sindri.

Frederik E.O. Toye (Shogun) will direct the first two episodes, while Ronald D. Moore serves as showrunner. The series already has a two-season order, though it's unclear if these two seasons will be sufficient to adapt God of War’s entire Norse saga. The inclusion of God of War Laufey is also uncertain, as the upcoming game heavily features Kratos' within the same rough timeline as the Norse saga.

Amazon’s God of War TV show does not have a release date yet.
