A mysterious cathedral spotted in Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced may be a subtle tease for the upcoming Assassin's Creed Hexe.

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced may have hidden an Easter egg that hints at Assassin's Creed Hexe, the codename for the franchise's next mainline instalment.

In Black Flag Resynced, the final Animus Rift location offers a view of several structures representing previous Assassin's Creed games, including Origins, Odyssey, Valhalla, Mirage, and Shadows. However, an additional mysterious cathedral has caught fans' attention, with many believing it could be a tease for the upcoming Assassin's Creed Hexe.

One clip showcasing the discovery was shared by X user AC Brotherhood News, who also explained how they found the apparent Easter egg in Black Flag Resynced.

The cathedral seen in Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced could simply be a unique structure created for the Assassin's Creed universe, but some fans have drawn comparisons to real-life German cathedrals, adding further weight to long-standing rumours surrounding Assassin's Creed Hexe.

One Reddit user suggested that the building resembles Würzburg Cathedral, while another in the comments said it is more closely inspired by St. Lorenz Church in Nuremberg. If either comparison proves accurate, it would further support previous reports that Hexe is set during the witch trials that took place across parts of Germany.

Würzburg, in particular, witnessed one of Europe's largest witch-hunt campaigns, while neighbouring regions such as Bamberg also saw thousands executed. Nuremberg, meanwhile, only saw over a dozen recorded executions.

Fans have also speculated that Assassin's Creed Hexe could feature multiple locations across Germany, rather than being confined to a single city.

What do we know about Assassin's Creed Hexe so far?

Assassin's Creed Codename Hexe first surfaced through reports from known Ubisoft leakers, who claimed the game would primarily be set in Würzburg, Germany, with a darker atmosphere.

According to the rumours, players will take on the role of a woman named Anika, who is said to be a descendant of Claudia Auditore. The alleged connection has prompted speculation among fans that Ezio Auditore could somehow return or be referenced in the story.

One purportedly leaked line of dialogue from the protagonist reads: “They call me a witch. They want to burn me for what I can do. For what I know.” Other claims suggest the game will feature blood pacts, poison-focused gameplay mechanics, a major character named Wolfgang, and more aggressive NPCs that react immediately to suspicious behaviour.

Ubisoft has yet to officially reveal details about its next mainline Assassin's Creed title, so all of the above information should be taken with a grain of salt.
