Overwatch x YOASOBI collaboration revealed with six Legendary skins and new lore for Genji and Hanzo
Overwatch's next event brings the Shimada family back into focus.
Overwatch has finally given players a proper look at its upcoming collaboration with Japanese J-pop duo YOASOBI, revealing six new Legendary skins, an animated music video, and a fresh chapter in the Shimada family's story.
According to a press release reported by Go Nintendo, the limited-time event runs until 20 July, combining YOASOBI's music with an original story centred on Kiriko, Genji, and Hanzo.
Overwatch x YOASOBI skins revealed
The collaboration introduces six new Legendary skins, each styled around YOASOBI's vibrant aesthetic with neon colours, hard-light effects, and kanji-inspired visual designs. The full line-up includes:
- Dragon Star Hanzo
- Dragon Star Genji
- Fox Star Kiriko
- Spirit Star Mizuki
- Space Star Juno
- Fire Star Anran
Beyond their new appearances, the skins also feature enhanced ambient visual effects, while the collaboration's dance emotes include official music and choreography created for the crossover. Blizzard says each hero's design reflects their individual story, from Hanzo and Genji's long journey to Kiriko's unwavering spirit, alongside premium new looks for Mizuki, Juno, and Anran.
What is the new story about Genji and Hanzo Shimada about?
Blizzard followed up the collaboration reveal by sharing The Fall of a Sparrow through the official Overwatch X account, expanding on the story at the heart of the event.
The story follows Genji as he returns to Tokyo on an unsanctioned mission to investigate the Hashimoto's growing influence and reports of mysterious weapons that resemble those once forged for the Shimada clan. Along the way, he reunites with Hanzo and Kiriko, with the story exploring their shared history before the events of the collaboration's animated music video.
YOASOBI's original music, a fully animated music video, and the newly released short story all tell different parts of the same narrative, while collectible cosmetics and themed map updates carry the collaboration into the game itself.
The Overwatch x YOASOBI collaboration runs from 30 June until 20 July, 2026.
