The price update for Palworld comes as it surpassed 40 million players, more than two years after its Early Access release.

Palworld is gearing up for its 1.0 launch, which will bring a massive overhaul of its world on 10 July as it exits Early Access after two and a half years. Ahead of the highly anticipated update, PocketPair shared several pieces of exciting news for fans, revealing that the game has reached 40 million players and confirming the studio's decision to keep its retail price at US$29.99.

The 40 million players milestone is a staggering achievement, encompassing everyone who has played the game, whether by purchasing a copy or accessing it through console subscription services. PocketPair has described the game's success as an anomaly, but many expect the player count to continue growing following its full release.

Its success has been seen from way back at launch. Palworld had enjoyed a peak of 2.1 million concurrent players on Steam just eight days after its Early Access release in January 2024. It remains one of Steam's most-played games by peak concurrent player count.

How much does Palworld 1.0 cost?

With the 1.0 update approaching–dubbed Palworld's biggest update yet–PocketPair has also announced its pricing plans. As a gesture of appreciation to its community, the studio has decided against increasing the price of Palworld upon its full release, keeping the retail price of Palworld at US$29.99.

Many had initially expected the completed version to cost more, particularly as the game's Steam page previously stated that “the price may increase at or closer to the official release.”

The announcement was made via social media, where PocketPair shared the following statement:

"After much thought, we have decided not to raise the price of Palworld following the 1.0 release and will keep it at $29.99.

"We are incredibly proud of how far Palworld has come. Thanks to the amazing support of our players, it has become a success beyond our wildest dreams. As a small way of saying thank you, we'll be keeping the price at $29.99.

"Thank you for your continued support."

Palworld 1.0 launches on 10 July for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. The full release introduces extensive overhauls to the game's maps, towers and core mechanics, alongside a wealth of new content, including access to the long-awaited World Tree.
