A job listing from CD Projekt RED gives us a few hints about what the next game might be like.

CD Projekt Red's next original IP remains one of the studio's biggest mysteries, but after very few updates about the game, some clues have finally surfaced a few years later. The clue was found in a newly published job listing for an Engineering Director at the CD Projekt Red website.

This job listing required the Engineering Director for Hadar to “combine [their] leadership skills with [their] deep technical expertise to shape the future of our game systems, driving innovation and delivering unforgettable gaming experiences.”

What did CD Projekt Red's recruitment post reveal about Hadar?

The role also gave a quick glimpse of what Hadar aims to be. The Engineering Director's role was to “help push the envelope for the next, immersive game in the Hadar world, creating an emotional, open-world experience that will stay with gamers.”

As reported by GamesRadar, previous job listings also seem to point toward a strong emphasis on being narrative-driven, like the need for a quest designer who is “passionate about narrative-driven and emotional design.”

What is known about CD Projekt Red's Hadar?

Hadar is the codename for one of CD Projekt Red's upcoming all-new IPs. It was announced in a Q3 2022 earnings report, but at the time, the studio was still refining its core vision and prototypes, especially since the project involved a new IP. Then in March 2026, the company confirmed that the project has finally entered its pre-production phase.

During the company's earnings conference, co-CEO Michał Nowakowski said that the team had "established the foundations of this entirely new IP," while presentation materials stated that the project's "IP foundations" had been set, and that developers were "shifting focus to the game."

Nowakowski added that the team is currently creating and testing multiple prototypes in Unreal Engine, while working on elements that could eventually make their way into the final game.

How many developers are working on Hadar?

Compared with the company's larger productions, Hadar is still being developed by a relatively small team. CD Projekt Red reported that 26 developers were assigned to the project at the end of February. The studio continues to advertise several Hadar-related positions, indicating that recruitment and development efforts remain ongoing.

According to the company's most recent financial presentation, the team size stood at 24 developers as of 30 April, down slightly from the February total. That figure remains modest when compared with CD Projekt Red's other projects. The same presentation showed 513 developers working on The Witcher 4, 163 on Cyberpunk 2, and 83 on Project Sirius.

Other projects still ongoing for CD Projekt Red

That said, it's still a long way to go before we know more about Hadar. However, other projects on CD Projekt Red's portfolio are still ongoing. The company's latest investor materials included updates beyond Hadar. CD Projekt Red recently confirmed that The Witcher 3 is set to receive a new expansion, Songs of the Past, in 2027, while Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2 are also still in the works.
