Square Enix finally reveals new trailer for Kingdom Hearts IV, confirms Nintendo Switch 2 launch
Kingdom Hearts IV finally gets a new trailer after four long years.
Square Enix took to this week’s Nintendo Direct to drop a new trailer for Kingdom Hearts IV. It did so so casually, in fact, that one might forget that it’s been a long four years since the game was announced. This new trailer dives into Sora’s adventures in Tokyo, Japan, where he awakens following his sacrifice at the end of Kingdom Hearts III.

Is Kingdom Hearts IV coming to Nintendo Switch 2?
It’s been a long four years, but Square Enix is finally ready to show off a new look at Kingdom Hearts IV. The game was initially announced back in 2022, three whole years after the release of Kingdom Hearts III. While it’s unlikely that the game has actually been in development for a long seven years, that’s how long the wait has been for Kingdom Hearts fans nonetheless.
The new trailer for Kingdom Hearts IV doesn’t give much away that we don’t already know about. Following Sora’s sacrifice to use the power of waking to save Kairi, he faded away from existence and eventually reappeared in a world much like our own–specifically, Tokyo, Japan.
This new trailer once again shows him fighting Heartless in Shibuya, Tokyo, among other locations. We also see Donald and Goofy return, a few new faces make their debuts, and what appears to be a Nobody from Organisation XIII.
Kingdom Hearts IV does not have a release date yet, but it will officially be available at launch on Nintendo Switch 2.
