Nintendo Direct September 2025: All the biggest trailers and announcements

Everything you missed from September’s Nintendo Direct in one place.
This week, Nintendo held a Nintendo Direct livestream to show off upcoming games for the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, and on the eve of Super Mario Bros’ 40th anniversary, no less! We got new looks at highly-anticipated games like Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Resident Evil Requiem. Nintendo even confirmed more information from its upcoming cinematic projects, such as The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie (April 2025)
Nintendo has made it official: the sequel to the Super Mario Bros. Movie is The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, adapting the widely beloved 3D platformer games of the same name. The cast of the first movie is also set to return. Read more here.
Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 (2 October, 2025)
This might be the most obvious re-release of all time. Nintendo is bundling Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2, to celebrate The Super Mario Bros. 40th anniversary, as well as the release of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.
Mario Tennis Fever (February 2026)
More characters and more chaos await players in Mario Tennis Fever. This arcade-y tennis game features Super Mario characters playing supercharged tennis, using unique Fever rackets that empower them with special abilities.
Super Mario Bros. Wonder Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup at Bellabel Park (Spring 2026)
Nintendo is continuing its trend of tacking on expansions to video game re-releases, with this Nintendo Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder.
Dinkum (5 November, 2025)
Krafton's latest game has players shape their dream town in a remote island inspired by the Australian Outback, giving the Animal Crossing formula a Western flavour.
Yoshi and the Mysterious Book (Spring 2026)
Yoshi is getting a video game of his very own. In this game, Yoshi embarks on an adventure straight out of the pages of a very special book.
Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream (Spring 2026)
The next installment in the Tomodachi game franchise has been fully unveiled. The game features Mii characters in a social simulation setting, as they interact with each other and grow relationships.
Mortal Kombat Legacy Collection (30 November, 2025)
This collection of iconic Mortal Kombat games is coming to the Nintendo Switch in two months.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (4 December, 2025)
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond has shown off new gameplay, and it looks like Samus is getting a motorcycle to ride on this time around.
Hades 2 (25 September, 2025)
Supergiant Games’ highly-anticipated dungeon-crawling sequel Hades 2 has officially announced a release date with this new animated trailer.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment (6 November, 2025)
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’s spin-off musou game is almost here. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment follows Princess Zelda, in the time she spent separate from Link during the main story.
Dragon Quest VII Reimagined (5 February, 2026)
A remake of Dragon Quest VII is officially in development. Still no sign of Dragon Quest XII, however.
Virtual Boy (17 February, 2026)
Nintendo is manufacturing a Virtua Boy console with a bunch of video games, and it’s compatible with the Nintendo Switch consoles. Additionally, Virtual Boy–Nintendo Classics will be available for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members on the consoles.
Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly remake (Early 2026)
Fans of the Fatal Frame franchise can soon enjoy a remake of Fatal Frame 2, arriving in early 2026.
Suika Game Planet (Winter 2025)
Suika Game Planet acts as a sequel to Suika Game Planet, bringing gameplay to a circular stage. Here, Poppy, an orbiting character, can drop fruit from any angle while circling the planet.
Donkey Kong Bananza + Emerald Rush (available today)
Donkey Kong Bananza is getting a paid expansion that adds an all-new island and story quest for Donkey Kong and Pauline to explore.
Pokemon: Pokopia (2026)
Ditto can transform into a human in this incredibly unlikely life simulator, which appears to be The Pokemon Company’s take on Animal Crossing.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A: Mega Dimension (TBA)
The Pokemon Company has announced two Mega Evolutions for Raichu, coming in upcoming paid DLC for Pokemon Legends: Z-A.
Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection (13 March, 2026)
The next Monster Hunter Stories game launches next year. This turn-based RPG will see players ride, befriend, and raise monsters.
Resident Evil Requiem (27 February, 2026)
Capcom dropped a new trailer for Resident Evil Requiem, featuring all-new footage from the upcoming survival-horror sequel. We also get a sneak peek at its slimy antagonist.
Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave (2026)
The next installment in the Fire Emblem franchise has been revealed. The game seems to be set in a Roman-inspired setting, with arenas and the series’ signature tactical combat.
