Battlefield 6’s battle royale mode has been revealed.

Publisher Electronic Arts has officially revealed Battlefield 6’s battle royale mode, after months of rumours, speculations, and leaks. While the mode still lacks a name, EA calls it “a battle royale built on Battlefield's unique DNA,” featuring a few twists on the typical battle royale formula.

Battlefield 6’s battle royale mode is also coming to Battlefield Labs this week, allowing playtesters to take the new mode out for a spin.

EA calls Battlefield 6’s upcoming battle royale mode “Battle Royale, the Battlefield way.” Game developer Battlefield Studios intends to throw in classic Battlefield elements like “gadgets, explosives, destructible environments, and vehicles” into a larger map with 100 players.

Here’s the lowdown. First up, Battlefield 6’s battle royale map will be an all-new map with multiple points of interest, featuring unique layouts–much like other battle royale games. Players can also find transport vehicles scattered around the map, or unlock powerful armoured vehicles, for use in a match.

Battlefield’s signature destruction will also be present in this mode. EA teases that players will be able to cause all manner of chaos, from “creating pathways through walls to toppling buildings.”

Matches will consist of 25 four-player squads, making up 100 players in total. Players can communicate through pings, text, or VOIP. They’ll also be able to revive via the Support class and use Mobile Redeploy to get back into the fight.

Here’s the kicker: the ring kills you dead

There’s one thing that separates Battlefield 6’s battle royale mode from all the rest: its ring of death. All battle royale games feature a constantly-enclosing ring that gradually shrinks the map. A shrinking map brings opposing players closer together, and thus, into conflict. Typically, those caught outside of the ring constantly receive a small amount of continuous damage, encouraging them to stay within its bounds.

In Battlefield 6’s battle royale mode, the ring gives players no quarter. Urgent warnings follow the ring of fire’s approach, and those caught within it will be immediately killed. No second chances.

Classes and progression

Battlefield 6’s battle royale mode will also feature character classes similar to the main multiplayer modes, but players won’t be able to switch classes in the middle of a match. During a match, players earn XP through eliminating opponents, completing missions, or finding Intel Cases.

XP allows the players to level up through their class’ Training, giving them access to new class-specific traits and bonuses. Players can also explore the map loot for weapons, of course, with five weapon rarity tiers to dig up. They can also gain items by completing missions.

How can you play Battlefield 6’s battle royale mode right now?

Interested players can test out Battlefield 6’s battle royale mode this week via Battlefield Labs. If they’ve already managed to get into previous playtests for the game, the battle royale mode should be immediately available to them.

However, those who have just signed up might have to wait a while to get their confirmation email. You can sign up for Battlefield Labs here.

Battlefield 6 launches on 10 October, 2025.
