Big Dune Awakening update lands this week with Free Weekend trial

The saga on Arrakis continues with Chapter 2, and newcomers can experience it all during the Free Weekend.
Dune: Awakening has dropped its biggest update yet. Chapter 2 is now live as a free update, arriving alongside the launch of the Lost Harvest DLC and the game’s first-ever Free Weekend. Announced at Gamescom last month, the update marks a major step forward for Funcom’s survival MMO.
Dune: Awakening's next Free Weekend is nigh
Players can dive into the game for free during the Dune: Awakening Free Weekend, running from 11 to 15 September. All servers are open, and progress will carry over for those who choose to purchase the game afterwards. On top of that, from 11 to 22 September, the game will also be discounted by 20% on Steam and selected third-party stores, the first time it has been offered at a reduced price.
Free update in Chapter 2: The journey continues
Chapter 2 picks up directly after the revelations of Act 3, opening with a string of mysterious murders across Arrakis. Players are tasked with uncovering the gruesome truth and working alongside an investigator appointed by a powerful leader. Stealth plays a central role in the chapter’s missions, guiding players through new areas and deeper layers of the story.
The update expands the experience beyond the main narrative too. New characters, items, and contracts broaden the range of encounters across the shifting deserts, while a new rocket tier, fresh archetype armour, and extended Deep Desert content encourage further exploration. Quality-of-life improvements round things out, including container renaming and better vehicle distance view in the Deep Desert.
Lost Harvest DLC and Season Pass
Alongside the free update, players can pick up the Lost Harvest DLC for US$12.99, or as part of the Season Pass priced at US$24.99. The pass also includes two more DLCs planned for the future, each bringing new stories and regions to uncover.
