Amazon’s God of War TV adaptation is reportedly gearing up to start filming. According to Nexuspointnews, the streamer’s upcoming live-action adaptation of God of War (2018) has committed to begin filming in March 2026. That means it’ll be quite some time before fans get a first look at the series, though they can safely expect casting announcements for iconic characters like Kratos and Atreus in the near future.
God of War TV series reportedly sets 2026 filming date
Amazon’s God of War TV series is inching closer to production. The series is confirmed to consist of just 10 episodes in its first season, adapting the events of God of War (2018). That means the series will potentially skip the events of the original Greek mythology-inspired God of War trilogy, as well as its various spin-off titles.
Nexuspointnews reports that the upcoming TV series is set to begin filming in Vancouver, Canada in March, 2026. The site also states that casting is “currently underway” for the series, which is reportedly looking to spend two seasons to fully adapt the Norse saga. That might include the events of God of War Ragnarök.
The series was first announced back in December 2022, and will finally enter production four whole years after the fact. Ronald D. Moore is serving as the series’ showrunner, taking over production after the series had initially lined up a different creative team.
A second season of God of War has already been greenlit at Amazon. The series has no premiere date yet. Amazon has also set a TV adaptation of Life is Strange.
