Cyberpunk 2077 teases mysterious announcement for 4 September

Night City’s airwaves are buzzing again, and the latest broadcast has players convinced something big is about to break.
Something new seems to be on the horizon for Cyberpunk 2077, with developer CD Projekt Red recently dropping a cryptic message that has fans buzzing about what could be a possible DLC, an update, or even a whole new project.
The studio’s official social media channels shared an in-universe broadcast from NUSA President Rosalind Myers, a character introduced in the Phantom Liberty expansion.
The statement warns of a looming cybersecurity threat and calls for “brave netrunners” to rise up and defend the nation.
“Our great nation is once again facing a cybersecurity threat: from those who hide in the shadows, too cowardly to proclaim their beliefs, who are viciously determined to tear down our flag and the values it upholds,” Myers declares.
The message ends with an invitation to take a “recruitment test” and prove loyalty to the cause, leaving the community scrambling to decode what it all means.
Fans are already theorising what the announcement could be about
Since the post went live, speculation has been running wild. Some believe this points to a hidden update for Phantom Liberty, particularly content centred on Songbird, the gifted netrunner who can breach the Blackwall. She quickly became a fan favourite, and her story still has room for expansion.
Others, like X (formerly Twitter) user @ToxicDeer2077 suspect this could mean the long-requested New Game Plus mode is finally on the way. The language around “recruits” and “experienced netrunners” has convinced them that the game may soon offer a tougher, replayable experience.
Another theory suggests a potential spin-off, possibly a mobile game focused on netrunning. CD Projekt Red has experimented with mobile adaptations before, as seen with The Witcher: Monster Slayer, so it’s not outside the realm of possibility.
More outlandish guesses even point to this being a recruitment drive for real-world cybersecurity specialists at the studio, though that seems far less likely.
What fans aren’t expecting, at least not yet, is news about a full sequel. While the project codenamed Cyberpunk Orion is in the works, CD Projekt Red has stated previously that the majority of its resources are currently focused on The Witcher 4.
With 4 September fast approaching, fans won’t have to wait long to see what’s really hiding behind the latest Night City broadcast.
