Space Marine 2 promises new enemies, plus new weapons and a new character class to fight them with, in its second year.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 has officially revealed its Year 2 roadmap ahead of the first anniversary of its release on 9 September. Starting with Patch 10 on 4 September, Space Marine 2 is set to release six major updates through the first half of 2026 that will add new missions, game modes, weapons, and even a new playable class in the Techmarine.

Space Marine 2's Patch 10 will add three new weapons, a new PVE mission, the new ‘Stratagems’ PvE mode, more PvP arenas, and a new PvP game mode to shake up your gameplay. This upcoming update notably focuses on the forces of Chaos, headlined by the new ‘Hellbrute Onslaught’ PvP mode–where two teams comprised of Heretic Astartes will fight over control of a powerful Hellbrute–and the long-awaited Chaos Armour pack that finally lets players customise the appearance of the Chaos Space Marines used in the game's PvP modes.

Patch 10 also adds a new Majoris-type enemy in the Chaos Spawn, mindless mutant creatures that have become so twisted by their service to the Ruinous Powers that they have devolved into insane and terrifying monstrosities. First revealed back in July, the Chaos Spawn will have three different variations–each likely aligned with one of the four Chaos Gods–with their own distinct movesets and abilities.

And as if there already weren't enough cosmic horrors assailing the Imperium, another boss enemy has been added in the Mutalith Vortex Beast. These tentacled monstrosities are powerful abominations created by the will of the Chaos God Tzeentch, and can lay waste to all in its path using both brute strength and other terrfying abilities borne from the Warp, may the Emperor protect you should you face this beast.

Following Patch 10 will be Patch 11, set to be released sometime in Q4 this year, that will add a new PvE mission, mission pickups, and an expansion to the Stratagems PvE mode with new rewards and battlefield conditions.

Patches 12 through 15 are also planned for release until the first half of 2026. Patch 12 will be released in the first quarter of next year and will see the addition of the new Techmarine class.

Techmarines are the technicians and engineers of the Space Marine Chapters, receiving extensive training from the Adeptus Mechanicus in Mars to oversee the various armaments and vehicles of their Chapter. While little has been revealed of how the Techmarines will be portrayed in Space Marine 2, we can expect something along the lines of their battlefield roles in both the lore and the tabletop, where they often go into battle with a Servo-arm and some of the most advanced weaponry available to the Space Marines.

Aside from the new Techmarine class, Patch 12 will also add a PvE mission, expansions to the Battle-Barge, new battlefield conditions for the Stratagems game mode, and the ‘Omnissiah Axe’ weapon exclusive to the Techmarine class.

Also coming in the first quarter of 2026 will be Patch 13, which adds a new PvE mission, a new Terminus-type enemy, and an update to the game's progression system. And in the second quarter of 2026, Patch 14 and 15 will add two new PvP arenas, new rewards for Stratagems, and a new Siege map.

Alongside all the free content updates listed above, Space Marine 2 will also roll out paid Champion and Cosmetic Packs that let players deck out their Space Marines' arms and armor in the colours and heraldry of their favourite Space Marine Chapters. These packs will be released alongside the upcoming Patches and can be bought individually, or as part of the game's Season Pass 2.

Patch 10 will include the ‘Black Templars’ Champion Pack and the ‘Imperial Fists’ Cosmetic Pack, Patch 11 will include the ‘Blood Angels’ Champion Pack and the ‘Salamanders’ Cosmetic Pack, Patch 12 will include the ‘Raven Guard’ Champion Pack and the ‘Carcharodons’ Cosmetic Pack, Patch 13 will include the ‘Iron Hands’ Chapter Pack, while Patch 13 features the ‘Raptors’ Cosmetic Pack and a Champion Pack for a “redacted” Space Marine Chapter. If we had to guess what that last Champion Pack is, all the secrecy surrounding it points towards the enigmatic ‘Grey Knights’ Chapter.

While there's plenty of new content coming in Space Marine 2's second year to be excited about, fans of the series and the Warhammer 40,000 setting in general can also look forward to the release of Space Marine 3 sometime in the future. Developer Saber Interactive and publisher Focus Entertainment, as well as Warhammer 40,000 creator Games Workshop, already announced back in March that Space Marine 3 is in development.
