The game's most-requested feature is finally arriving in the upcoming patch.

It’s a weekend of good news for Nightfarers. FromSoftware Inc, the developer of Elden Ring: Nightreign, has confirmed that the game’s official duo mode is finally arriving on 30 July. The announcement was made on Saturday, 26 July, via a trailer released by Bandai Namco on YouTube and posted on Elden Ring’s official social accounts:

The trailer showcased some clips where, instead of sets of three players, pairs are sent out to defeat bosses across Limveld. The promised two-player mode is now set to arrive on 30 July along with patch 1.02, alongside some UI improvements and more Relics filtering options.

The news just came a day before FromSoftware shared that the base game, Elden Ring: Nightreign, has sold more than 5 million copies worldwide.

Since its release, Elden Ring has had a strong following, starting off with more than 300,000 concurrent players within the first hour. However, the game has received mixed Steam reviews, most especially because the game wasn’t optimised for the solo experience, nor was it possible for anyone to play as a duo. Although players were given a workaround when a modder added an unofficial duo support mod two months ago, FromSoftware also promised changes, first to deal with the Solo experience in the earlier patches, before letting players know that a duos mode was coming.

With this update, the studio finally delivers on that promise–giving players more flexibility in how they approach the Lands Between, whether it be solo or with a companion by their side.
