Magic the Gathering x Final Fantasy crossover cards earned US$200 million in one day

Magic: The Gathering’s Final Fantasy crossover cards made a lot of money in a short amount of time.
Hasbro’s recent Magic: The Gathering x Final Fantasy crossover cards have made bank, crossing US$200 million in sales over the span of just one day. This can safely be considered a massive success by Hasbro’s standards, as its CEO Christian Cocks noted that an earlier set of Lord of the Rings crossover cards took six months to surpass the US$200 million mark.
Cook noted in an earnings call: “[...] we couldn’t produce enough” of the Final Fantasy cards, leaving “demand on the table.”
Magic: the Gathering’s Final Fantasy crossover has been a success
Hasbro CEO Christian Cocks has confirmed that the recently-released Magic: The Gathering x Final Fantasy crossover turned up US$200 million in sales in just one day. The CEO revealed this information during a Q2 earnings call this week, noting that “Lord of the Rings took six months to deliver $200 million of revenue, Final Fantasy took one day, and we left demand on the table [...] So we couldn't produce enough.”
Hasbro apparently increased production runs on the cards far beyond any other it has ever done for Magic: the Gathering. Cocks said “I think we increased production runs on it 4x pre-release. It was substantially by many, many very high double-digit percentages ahead of any other production run we've ever done, and we left the market wanting more."
The earnings call also reported that revenue for Magic: The Gathering grew 23% year-on-year, likely thanks to the crossover. According to the call, Hasbro expects “a nice long tail of backlist for the product.”
Cocks also noted that he feels “pretty good” about future Magic: The Gathering IP collaborations “in terms of being Final Fantasy, like in terms of the types of players, the size of community, and the adjacencies we have."
Aside from its big crossovers, Magic: The Gathering is now introducing spacecraft, planets, and more in its new Standard set Edge of Eternities.
