Johnny Cage steps into the arena in the bloody new Mortal Kombat II trailer

The new Mortal Kombat II trailer brings back familiar faces and brutal fights.
If there was anything that wasn’t fake from yesterday’s fake Uncaged Fury trailer released by Warner Bros., it’s that Johnny Cage will indeed be in the Mortal Kombat II movie.
Just a few hours after Uncaged Fury was released, the real Mortal Kombat II trailer was revealed:
Johnny Cage joins the fray
In the trailer, Johnny Cage (Karl Urban) is seen drinking at a bar, telling a fan that his days as the top action star are long behind him. When he makes his way to the car park, he’s met by Raiden and Sonya Blade, who inform him that he has been chosen to fight in the Mortal Kombat tournament; an infamous battle to the death.
What follows is exactly what fans expect from the games: savage one-on-one fights where the camera doesn’t flinch from blood, guts, and even full-body slices. Johnny must represent Earthrealm, with the fate of the world in his hands. The catch? He doesn’t have any powers, of course.
New movie posters featuring Kitana, Johnny Cage, and Raiden. The Mortal Kombat tournament is a martial arts contest organized by the sorcerer Shang Tsung. Warriors from Earthrealm, such as Liu Kang, Sonya Blade, and Johnny Cage, must battle against Outworld’s champions to stop their realm from falling under enemy control.
In the trailer, we also see these champions as they attempt to defeat the dark rule of Shao Kahn that threatens the very existence of the Earthrealm and its defenders. Except for the plot armour that he likely has, we don’t know what will happen to him and the rest of the fighters from other worlds just yet.
