Nintendo’s live-action The Legend of Zelda adaptation is taking shape.

Nintendo has officially cast Link and Zelda for its upcoming The Legend of Zelda movie adaptation. In a recent social media post, company head Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed that actors Bo Bragason and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth will play Zelda and Link respectively.

The post also included an early glimpse of what appears to be both actors in costume as Zelda and Link.

The Legend of Zelda live-action adaptation locks in its Link and Zelda

In an official Twitter/X post penned by The Legend of Zelda franchise co-creator and Nintendo company head Shigeru Miyamoto, it was revealed that live-action actors for Link and Zelda have officially been cast. Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, who previously starred in Pinocchio (2022) and The Haunting of Bly Manor, will play Link.

Bo Bragason, who previously starred in The Radleys and Renegade Neil, will play Princess Zelda. Both actors are relative newcomers, and seem to have been cast for their aesthetic accuracy to their video game counterparts, rather than star power. It should be noted that Ainsworth is lacking Link's trademark blonde hair in the above picture, though these images could be from pre-production wardrobe tests, and thus might not be final.

Miyamoto wrote on social media:

“I am pleased to announce that for the live-action film of ‘The Legend of Zelda,’ Zelda will be played by Bo Bragason-san, and Link by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth-san. I am very much looking forward to seeing both of them on the big screen.”

The Legend of Zelda’s live-action movie adaptation will hit theatres on 7 May, 2027, following a recent delay. Wes Ball (Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes) is set to direct, with Nintendo and Sony Pictures co-financing the film.
