Capcom has revealed an all-new mobile Resident Evil game.

Capcom has announced an all-new Resident Evil game, but it’s not exactly what players might have been expecting from the renowned singleplayer horror franchise. During this week’s Anime Expo convention in Los Angeles, the mobile game Resident Evil: Survival Unit was announced to be in development by Capcom, JoyCity Corporation, and Aniplex.

A full reveal for Resident Evil: Survival Unit is in the works

This week’s Anime Expo convention saw Aniplex ForwardWorks Room’s senior vice president Shinji Hashimoto announce Resident Evil: Survival Unit, a new mobile strategy installment in the renowned horror franchise. The game is being developed in partnership between Capcom, JoyCity Corporation, and Aniplex.

Resident Evil: Survival Unit is set to launch on iOS and Android mobile devices, with a reimagined version of Resident Evil’s iconic survival-horror gameplay. Unlike recent installments in the franchise like Resident Evil Village, this will be a real-time strategy (RTS) game–though the exact nature of its gameplay is currently unknown.

However, fans will get more details about the game very soon. A full reveal of Resident Evil: Survival Unit is set for 10 July at 3pm PT/6pm ET next week, where gameplay will likely be shown off for the RTS. We’ll learn more about the game, and hopefully its release window, then.

Meanwhile, Resident Evil fans can look forward to the next installment in the franchise next year. Resident Evil Requiem is set to launch in February 2026, featuring a new protagonist named Grace Ashcroft. Its story takes players back to Raccoon City, which has been decimated by an explosion meant to thwart the spread of the T-virus.
