Move over, Marvel vs. Capcom–there’s a new superhero tag team fighting game in town. Developer Arc System Works and publishers PlayStation Studios and Marvel Games have announced Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, a brand-new fighting game that reimagines iconic Marvel heroes for 2D fighting gameplay.

Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls tag team fighter unveiled
Arc System Works is officially making a Marvel Comics-themed fighting game. The developer is reimagining iconic Marvel heroes and villains, as well as environments from their shared comicbook universe, for a brand-new 4v4 multiplayer tag team fighting game.
In the trailer above, we spotted Captain America (Steve Rogers), Iron Man, Spider-Man (Peter Parker), Doctor Doom, Storm, Ms. Marvel, Star-Lord, and Ghost Rider (Robbie Reyes) as playable characters, all of whom have been redesigned for this game. Iron Man, for example, is getting a samurai-themed suit of armour.
Each of these playable characters will feature a unique set of Normal, Special, and Unique attacks, along with cinematic Ultimate Skills. Its tag team gameplay is a little more chaotic than usual as well, eschewing traditional 2v2 or 3v3 formats for big ol’ 4v4 matchups. The game’s stages will also feature multiple areas, transitioning from one location to the next during gameplay.
Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls launches sometime in 2026. For more games showcased in this week’s State of Play presentation, check out our coverage here.
