Is Baldur’s Gate 3 not doing it for you anymore? We have some good news. 

An all-new Dungeons & Dragons video game has been announced. This week, Wizard of the Coast officially announced an exclusive agreement with developer Giant Skull to publish “an all-new, single-player action-adventure title set in the world of Dungeons & Dragons.” 

Giant Skull is headed by Stig Asmussen, the director of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Asmussen left Respawn Entertainment in 2023 to later create the studio in 2024. This will be Giant Skulls’ first video game. 

New Dungeons & Dragons action-adventure game announced

Game publisher Wizards of the Coast has officially lined up a new Dungeons & Dragons video game. This week, the company signed an exclusive publishing deal with Giant Skull to make an all-new single-player Dungeons & Dragons video game. The game is currently in development for PC and console platforms. 

The game studio Giant Skull is headed by Stig Asmussen, who left Respawn Entertainment and Electronic Arts to create the company in 2024. Asmussen directed both games in the Star Wars Jedi series starring Cal Kestis, and also directed God of War III at Santa Monica Studio. The new game is said to be developed in Unreal Engine 5 from the ground up, but the studio has not revealed any key art or gameplay as of yet. 

Wizards of the Coast appears to be chasing after the success of Larian Studios’ insta-hit RPG Baldur’s Gate 3 with a series of new video games. For example, Atomic Arcade is currently making a G.I. Joe game that follows Snake Eyes. Invoke is making another Dungeons & Dragons game themed after magic. 

Archetype Entertainment is making a sci-fi RPG called Exodus, while Skeleton Key is making a game “that blends suspense, horror, and memorable gameplay experiences.” Of course, Wizards of the Coast is also adding content to Magic: The Gathering Arena on top of that. 

Giant Skull’s new Dungeons & Dragons game does not have a release date.
