Yuri Lowenthal will not return for the Persona 4 remake.

It looks like the rumours of a Persona 4 remake being in development at Sega and Atlus are indeed true. Yuri Lowenthal, perhaps best known as the current voice of Spider-Man in multiple Marvel games, confirmed that the remake was in development this week–and that he won’t be returning for the project.

Lowenthal had previously voiced Yosuke, a playable character in the 2008 video game. Erin Fitzgerald, who played Chie Satonaka in Persona 4 Golden, also confirmed that she won't return for the remake, suggesting the project is set to recast all of its characters.

Persona 4 remake confirmed by original voice actor

Yuri Lowenthal, a voice actor from the original Persona 4 video game in 2008, has confirmed that a remake of the game is now in development. This is, in fact, the second time Lowenthal has been recast in the Persona game franchise. Lowenthal originally voiced the protagonist of Persona 3 (2006) as well, but the role was recast in the Persona 3 Reload remake, with Aleks Le playing the role.

This week, the actor left a now-deleted post on BlueSky, saying that:

"I will not be returning as Yosuke for the Persona 4 remake. I asked. Maybe I even begged, but they don’t want me to come back."

The post is now unavailable, likely because Lowenthal hadn’t realised that the existence of this remake is still under wraps. His fellow Persona 4 Golden cast member Erin Fitzgerald, who played Chie Satonaka, also confirmed that she wouldn’t be involved in the remake:

“For those asking, I have not been asked to reprise my role as Chie Satonaka in the Persona 4 remake.”

A remake of Persona 4 has not been officially confirmed by Sega and Atlus, but multiple signs point to its existence–besides the aforementioned voice actors outright confirming it. Earlier in March this year, a web domain relating to the Persona 4 remake was found online.
