Are you still playing Helldivers 2 this week?
A new week of gaming is upon us, but we get it: everyone’s still playing Helldivers 2. Too many people, in fact, to the point that a lot of them are still stuck in login queues. If you’re one of those people, never fear: until you get thrown into intergalactic alien war, there is a bevy of new releases out this week for you to check out. Here’s what we’re up to this week:
What we’re playing this week
If you’re a big fan of driving games, Pacific Drive makes a rather unusual entry in the genre on February 22. The game has players navigate the dangerous Olympic Exclusion Zone with their car as their only lifeline, but you won’t be driving your car all the time - you’ll need to take care to maintain it as well. Two games are also coming out of Early Access on Steam this week: Sons of the Forest and Last Epoch.
Sons of the Forest (February 22) is a survival-horror follow-up to The Forest, wherein players get stranded on an island inhabited by cannibals and creepy creatures. You’ll have to make use of your surroundings to survive in either solo or co-op multiplayer, but be careful - you’re not alone out there. The hack-and-slash action-RPG Last Epoch is also getting a full release on February 21, putting a time travel twist on the genre. If you liked Diablo 4, this one is worth checking out.
What we’re watching this week
Anime, zombies and live-action remakes. Where do we start? The anime-original movie Spy x Family: Code White is out in theatres in most regions this week (sorry, USA!), following a new adventure with our favourite spy-assassin-telepath trio. This time, the Forgers travel to a new region to help Anya win a cooking competition, only to set off a chain of actions that put world peace at risk. That’s how it goes with this bunch.
The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live also comes out on February 25, bringing Rick Grimes and Michonne back together at long last. The series will follow Rick’s exploits after his disappearance in the main series, as Michonne sets out to look for him. Netflix’s live-action remake of Avatar: The Last Airbender also comes out on February 22, and it should - cross your fingers - be better than the movie, if nothing else.
