We’re tuning into BlizzCon 2023 with (naive) dreams for our favourite games. How about you?

It’s Halloween week, but it’s also BlizzCon week! As an avid fan of all things spooky and Overwatch-related, I’m not sure which I’m more excited for. It’s your last chance to get your hands on Halloween events in games like Fortnite and Call of Duty: Warzone, or indulge in our Top 10 picks for horror games to play on Halloween. After that, we're on Blizzard time.

What we’re playing this week

There’s some stuff coming out this week that we’re keeping an eye on. I adored Life is Strange and all of its spin-offs, so I’m looking forward to franchise creator Don’t Nod’s next game: a meditative climbing game called Jusant on October 30. This seems like a laid-back experience that doubles down on hiking and climbing as the protagonist makes a long and difficult journey upwards. It reminds me of the long walks Death Stranding used to make me take, but without all the stress of BTs and loopy storytelling.

Riot’s next League of Legends spin-off Song of Nunu also launches on November 1, following a young Nunu and his yeti companion Willump as the duo search for his mother. This is an adventure game that will have you solve puzzles to progress through different levels, developed by the creator of Rime and Gylt. Riot previously mentioned that this game would include some refurbished details on League of Legends’ timeline, as the developer works to rectify its confusing lore.

Lastly, RoboCop: Rogue City is coming out on November 2, 2023, for anyone who wants a slice of immersive 80s nostalgia. The first-person action game puts you in the metal shoes of the armoured police officer Robocop, as he patrols the crime-ridden streets of Detroit and beats the living daylights out of evildoers everywhere.

What we’re watching this week

BlizzCon 2023! Blizzard’s annual convention returns for a big in-person show for the first time in years, this time with a bevvy of announcements for games like World of Warcraft, Warcraft Classic, Overwatch 2, Diablo 4, Hearthstone and more. I’ll be tuning in out of a vested interest in whatever remains of Overwatch 2’s remaining story content (don’t judge me), but Diablo 4 and Warcraft are likely to be the stars of the show here. The show runs from November 3-4 this weekend.

Besides that, Invincible finally returns for a second season on Amazon Prime Video on November 3, and trust me, you’ll want to tune in if you haven’t already. There’s a Netflix series called All the Light we Cannot See also coming out on November 2, based on the titular novel by Anthony Doerr. I’ve read the book, and this series is shaping up to tear my heart right out. I’m okay with that.

BlizzCon is going to do that anyway this week. Come on, Overwatch 2. Pull through for me!
