The tournament has encountered quite a lot of issues with the participants of the LAN finals. Three major competitors for this version of the tournament decided not to go to Katowice, with each one facing different issues.
The first team to forfeit their place was RoX.KIS, with Vladimir 'yol' Basov and Maxim 'TpoH' Vernikov having outdated passports. The second team to say goodbye to Poland was Alliance, the Swedish superstars. Their excuse was the need for extra training for The International 3. The last squad to quit EMS One Summer Season was Quantic Gaming, with Titouan 'Sockshka' Merloz still recovering from his hand injury and Airat 'Silent' Gaziev being busy with American Visa bureaucracy.
Replacing the departed squads are Infernity Gaming, Imaginary Gaming, Rat in the Dark and Dargoneblaydes. With some of the major favorites leaving the tournament, it'll be very interesting to see the outcome of the new brackets.
Brackets and schedule
?
The two days are game packed. However, with 2.5 hours between each match, the possibility of the tournament getting out of schedule is quite small.
All the matches will be played in a best-of-three format, with the exception of the grand finals, which will be a best-of-five match. The first day includes the Quarter Finals, while the second day includes the Semi Finals and the Grand Final.
Angelo hotel
?
The offline playoffs will take place in Angelo Katowice Hotel, just like the previous year. However, ESL managed to book the whole conference room for this year's version of the tournament, so the number of the live spectators is tripled. This will solve the seat availability problems faced by those who went to Katowice last year and could not watch the games properly.
Prize Pool
The prize pool remains the same as the previous EMS One season. The prize pool is $39,000, and the tournament is quite prestigious, considering the participation of non-sponsored teams in the playoffs.
