Here is everything launched in Dota 2's new Dark Carnival event.

Dota 2 has launched Dark Carnival, its major pre-TI event, following days of teases and the community wondering where Axe had disappeared to–and it turns out the community's theories were not far off.

Dark Carnival introduces a brand-new Dota 2 story in which players guide Hoodwink and Legion Commander through the circus train of the evil Ringmaster. The event follows a progression system similar to the one seen throughout the Crownfall saga, where players collect tickets by playing specific Dota 2 heroes in public matches. These tickets allow them to progress through stages while unlocking rewards along the way.

Players can get a wealth of free rewards, including Treasure of Wonders, Candies to redeem at the Carnival Candyworks shop, unique emoticons, loading screens, chat wheels, and more. For those willing (or eager) to spend, Dota 2 has also introduced Automaton Personas, a collection of exclusive and redesigned hero sets plus other item bundles. More details below.

What items are in the Treasure of Wonders?

The new Treasure of Wonders introduces fifteen brand-new hero sets featuring circus-themed cosmetics. There are eleven Common sets, two Rare sets, one Very Rare set, and one Ultra Rare set.

The hero sets included in the Treasure of Wonders are:

  • Queen of Pain – "Mistress of Ceremonies"

What are the exclusive sets in the Dark Carnival update?

Morphling's Automaton Persona in Dota 2's Dark Carnival event

The update introduces new Automaton Personas, which completely redesign Axe, Legion Commander, Oracle, Morphling, and Bristleback. These Personas are available exclusively through purchase.

Each Automaton Persona gives its hero a mech-inspired appearance, mirrorring the look of Ringmaster. It comes complete with new ability effects, animations, and voice lines plus a unique emoticon and wallpaper.

Other items available in the event store include Secret Room Packs–to progress locked paths in the event–,Treasure of Wonders, Dark Carnival Prize Pack and bundles.The Dark Carnival Prize Pack includes x30 Candy Bags, x10 Candyworks Re-Rolls, and x3 Seeing Stones.

Players can collect Dark Carnival Store Coins from event progression and use them in the event store to earn discounts.

Dark Carnival will also open up its Candyworks shop and The Oracle in future updates.
