Xtreme Gaming move closer to The International 2025 grand finals with win over BetBoom Team

Xtreme Gaming will face PARIVISION in a rematch for a spot in The International 2025 grand finals versus Team Falcons.
The Chinese Dota 2 redemption story continues as Xtreme Gaming eliminate BetBoom Team to become one of the final three contenders at The International (TI) 2025. The Chinese squad delivered an intense 2-0 sweep over the Eastern European powerhouse, moving one step closer to the grand finals.
This year’s TI has been exceptional to watch, with Xtreme Gaming’s unexpected rise to the top being a major highlight. After a lengthy slump in the Chinese Dota 2 scene, the region is finally reclaiming its dominance on the big stage.
A lot of fans are eager to see iconic carry player, Wang “Ame” Chunyu–often called the “uncrowned king”–finally claim his throne at TI after barely missing it in several championships. Alongside him are notable Chinese veterans: Hongcheng “Xm” Guo, Jing “Xxs” Lin, Zixing “XinQ” Zhao, and Jian Wei “xNova-” Yap–who all have yet to hoist the coveted Aegis of Champions, making this journey even more meaningful for the squad. It’s worth noting that xNova also joined in last minute to stand in for Wilson “poloson” Koh Chin, who remain sidelined to recover from health issues.
Throughout the season, Xtreme Gaming struggled and were often overshadowed by fellow regional rivals Team Tidebound. Against expectations, they entered fully swinging at TI 2025. The team went undefeated during the Group Stage, easily clinching the top seed with a perfect 4-0 record.
In the opening Playoffs series, Xtreme Gaming swept Tundra Esports 2-0. However, a tough loss to PARIVISION sent them tumbling to the lower bracket. Since then, they have moved swiftly through the lower bracket, first sweeping Nigma Galaxy, then delivering another impressive 2-0 victory over BetBoom Team. Their quest for the Aegis is nearing its peak, but several more obstacles remain.
Xtreme Gaming stifled BetBoom Team's comeback attempts to sweep them 2-0
The series between Xtreme Gaming and BetBoom Team consisted of two hour-long matches. Although the first game was nearly one-sided, the second turned into a nail-biting, closely contested battle.
The opening match began with Xtreme fielding a stronger draft. Ame’s Anti-Mage and Xm’s Death Prophet effectively countered Danil “gpk” Skutin’s Storm Spirit, while the core duo also held an advantage against Ivan “Pure” Moskalenko’s Templar Assassin.
In the early game, BetBoom Team managed to secure some great pickoffs, starting strong and even leading in net worth. However, both teams played cautiously, avoiding risky engagements and potential pickoffs. After a long, stagnant period, a decisive fight finally broke out in Xtreme’s Radiant triangle at the 49-minute mark. Xtreme emerged victorious with significant kills, resulting in a large net worth swing.
With Xtreme gaining the upper hand, BetBoom continued to play passively. Xtreme secured Roshan and began pushing BetBoom’s high ground, with Ame carrying the Aegis. In the final fights, Xxs’ Earthshaker stood out, landing deadly Echoslams that shut down BetBoom’s cores. Xtreme clinched the first map after 63 minutes.
In the second game, BetBoom drafted Pure’s signature Faceless Void alongside popular supports Hoodwink and Disruptor for Vitalie “Save-” Melnic and Vladislav “Kataomi`” Semenov. Xtreme Gaming opted for comfort heroes, with all their picks maintaining an undefeated record at TI so far.
In early skirmishes, xinQ’s Tiny played a crucial role as an initiator, drawing enemy attention and spells onto himself. This allowed the rest of Xtreme Gaming to follow up and dominate fights, gradually gaining the lead. BetBoom again chose to play safely around the map, waiting for Pure’s Void to reach his late-game power spike. And it paid off.
At the 41-minute mark, BetBoom won a pivotal fight, landing excellent Chronospheres on Xtreme’s core heroes to even the game. Four minutes later, BetBoom pushed to Xtreme’s high ground with an Aegis in hand, chipping away at racks and forcing buybacks.
As the game progressed, Xtreme’s survival seemed increasingly unlikely. However, Pure made a costly mistake by Chronosphering Xm’s Leshrac, who had just purchased a fresh Aeon Disk. This error triggered a chain of missteps from BetBoom, allowing Xtreme to bounce back. Seizing the opportunity, Xtreme closed out the game at 63 minutes.
With this win, Xtreme Gaming advance to the crucial lower bracket finals, where they will face an intimidating rematch against PARIVISION—the only team to have defeated them in this tournament. They will seek revenge to secure their spot in the Grand Finals, a feat unseen by a Chinese team since 2021. Waiting for the winner of the lower bracket finals is a formidable Team Falcons.
While Xtreme Gaming gear up for the event’s final day, BetBoom Team exit the tournament in fourth place—their best finish at The International to date—taking home $158,000 in prize money. BetBoom Team leave the championship proud, having reached a new milestone and delivered commendable performances. After years of stagnation, they’ve achieved significant success this season: winning three LAN tournaments (BLAST Slam I, FISSURE Universe Episode 6, and PGL Wallachia Season 5) and securing fourth place at TI 2025. We can expect them to be strong contenders in the next season.
