A long first day at Galaxy Battles has come to an end with the two frontrunners being as expected - Newbee and Planet Odd.
With a condensed schedule and format in play, the entire group stage, three way tie breakers and first set of Upper Bracket series were played out in what could only be an exhausting day for the teams.
After the group stage concluded and the brackets were set, Newbee and iG.Vitality competed in the upper brackets while Planet Odd went head to head with ViCi Gaming at the same time.
In both best-of-three series, the top seeds from each - Newbee and Planet Odd swept through their opponents with relative ease in 2:0 sweeps across the board.
Roman "Resolut1on" Fominok carried Planet Odd on his back with two fantastic performances while David "MoonMeander" Tan's Nature's Prophet was a treat to watch in the second match.
Playing three consecutive games in a row just prior to the upper bracket segment, Newbee showed no signs of exhaustion or burn out as they tackled the first game head on and trampled over iG.Vitality. Their stamina did seem to be pushed to the limits though going into the second match. Faced with a bit more of a fight coming out from their opponents, Newbee continued to remain strong and collected to overpower iG.Vitality in the end.
The action resumes tomorrow at 04:30 CEST with the brutal one game elimination series in the lower brackets as TnC Pro take on Infamous and HappyFeet challenge Mousesports .
The entire event will be broadcasted on the Galaxy Battles twitch.tv channel as well as Moonduck.TV Channel 1 and Channel 2.
