After failing to achieve suitable results, Fnatic have announced the addition of Lai 'Ahjit' Jay Son to their Dota 2 roster while Meracle will remain in the team as a sub.
Earlier this year in April, Fnatic announced their new roster which saw Galvin 'Meracle' Kang Jian Wen, Kim 'QO' Seon-yeop and Djardel Jicko B. 'DJ' Mampusti teaming up with Chong Xin 'Ohaiyo' Khoo and Kim 'Febby' Yong-min to complete the team. While the roster looked to be very solid on paper, it failed to achieve the results they wanted, as they failed to establish their dominance in the SEA regional qualifiers of many tournaments, failing to qualify for StarLadder i-League StarSeries, the Summit 7, the Manila Masters, EPICENTER as well as Mars Dota 2 League. The team was able to clearly realize that the roster was not meshing and they decided to pick Lai 'Ahjit' Jay Son to take over the carry role from Meracle.
Fnatic Dota 2 has failed to produce significant results ever since Jimmy 'Demon' Ho joined the team with Marc Polo 'Raven' Luis Fausto and Nico 'eyyou' Barcelon. Struggles in developing their team chemistry and failing to qualify for the Boston Major eventually led to the three players leaving the team. After trying out with Muhammad 'inYourdreaM' Rizky and Febby, the team again failed to produce any significant results and even Chai 'Mushi' Yee Fung went his own way.
After reforming their new team, they realized that Meracle's style of play was different to what the team required, and led to the addition of a super-aggressive Ah Jit. Ah Jit was part of the Malaysian powerhouse Warriors Gaming.Unity who were able to dominate the SEA scene on the back of Ah Jit's, and were able to secure an impressive top eight finish at the Boston Major, beating Fnatic in the qualifiers, and knocking out Complexity Gaming at the main stage before falling to the Boston Major champions - OG.
“ “While Meracle has shown significant improvement in the time we’ve been together, we think that it’s best we bring in Ah Jit. We hope that Meracle can learn a lot while he stays as our sub, and hope to see him back in action again.” - Eric ‘Reinnnn’ Khor ”Fnatic's new roster from positions 1 to 5:
