The first day of Monster Energy Invitational is over, with EG and Cloud9 taking down eHug and Team Liquid to secure themselves spots in the Winners Bracket final. 

The curtains have fallen for the opening day of Monster Energy Invitational, and we had two best-of-threes and an showmatch to enjoy today. 

For the main part of the tournament, EG went against Team eHug, with the Geniuses showcasing their new roster by taking a dominant 2-0 win against eHug. Cloud9's task was not as easy, as the series against Team Liquid had to go to a third game before Cloud9 grabbed the victory. Both teams are using stand-in players for this tournament (Arif 'MSS' Anwar for Liquid and Jimmy 'DeMoN' Ho for Cloud9)

Tomorrow brings two more best-of-three games, with eHug going against Team Liquid at 19:00 CET, and the defeated will be going home prematurely. The games will continue at 22:00 CET with the Winner Bracket final between EG and Cloud9. The winner secures a spot in the money and Grand Final, and the loser will have to face the victor of the previous match in the Loser Bracket final on Sunday.
