After the resignation of KuroKy, his fellow German H4nn1- has been playing with MYM, confirming that he hasn't lost his sting at all. Now officially announced, he joined his old team.
Tonight, H4nn1- will hopefully play his first official match since he parted with Ks.int in July. His opponents will be the American team Blight.
GosuGamers have asked H4nn1- a few short questions.
Why did you decide to start play competitive Dota again?
"As I played with Levent quite alot of HoN, he brought me to the SMM tournament, because he is still following the DotA-News. I was watching the results of MYM and felt embarrased. Obviously the 'Everything else than winning would be disappointing'-captain wasn't quite the right one.
After the (planned) ditching of the team after the tournament by KuroKy, I saw an opportunity for me to fill the gap. The actual desision to come back to DotA was an spontaneous one. Jacob told me if I was coming back to DotA, he would do so as well. Hopefully I/we have a great future and get some flow back into the team."
What style of playing are you hoping for MYM to play?
"I probably can't expect an 'All-in-Gang-Strategy', as Jacob and Martin love to see gold coming off the creeps ;). But I know as well that, we will try to find a strat that implements both farming and ganking, to secure late-game by it. I'll, of course, play where I'm needed at, but over time I've found that a solo-lane fits the best for me
I'm not denying any other positioning but for me and my performance ingame, it's usually the best to set me there. The style of playing is bound to the version as was shown in SMM. Late game carries are necessary in this version, maybe not as much as all the asians think but farming is a huge part of the game at the moment.
Therefore I hope Icefrog will change some major things within the next version to create an spectator-friendly game."
What do you feel about the new dota version(s)? Anything in particular you like or dislike?
"As I already mentioned, I dislike the huge farming aspect that's part of DotA right now. The change that KuroKy forces, to bring the old dagger back is 100% supported from my side. Also things such as blink on Venge or Butcher would be an improvement, although a small one.
This is something that I've noticed through HoN. The time I was inactive, I played quite alot of HoN and to be honest, beside the fact that HoN is a stolen game, it brought DotA to an other level, in my opinion.
Many oldschool DotA players tested HoN and instantly threw it away. For me, it also took a while to get used to the game.
Most of the heroes and items are the same as in DotA but the way you play HoN is way different, just for example the graphics. Another good change in HoN is that you can get more than one orb-effect.
On one hand it sounds stupid but on the other hand it made heroes such as Anti-Mage useful in HoN, because he is allowed to get an orb-effect without losing his manaburn.
This is just a start of a discussion I'd rather not go further with. I just hope, that Icefrog tries to think once again about basic things, such as the mentioned ones and other things to give DotA a great step into the future of electronic sports."
MaNia- have also been asked if the player change will affect the gameplay of MYM, for which he answers:
"As long as I'm still picking for MYM, we will still be trying to play aggressive and entertaining. Hanni usually played the ganker back in the old MYM days and after playing few games with him, I feel that he still got that aggressive nature in him."
MYM's current line-up:
Brian 'MaNia-' Strandby (leader)
Martin 'Angel' Olsen
Mikkel 'Miggel' Berg
Martin 'Pusher' Mogenson
Kai 'H4nn1-' Hanbueckers
Jacob 'Maelk' Toft-Andersen (inactive)
