It has a been an intense and hectic 2 days full of action packed DotA here at the ESWC San Jose! Unfortunately your intrepid reporter missed the entire first day due to my plane being struck by lightning, but late is better than never, and I'm looking forward to watching the final in just a few short hours!
Anyway onto the tournament,
It was EG and KS that topped Group A on Day 1, SK Gaming coming in an unfortunate 3rd and missing out on a slot in the semis.
Day 2 saw MYM and Zenith nab the top two slots in Group B, TEG just missing out.
Late in Day 2 we saw the thrilling semi-finals, the first saw Zenith narrowly beating out EG to secure their place in the final, the second was a brutally tough game between world class teams KingSurf and MeetYourMakers.
It lasted for over an hour, both teams exceptionally farmed, with KS taking the mid melee rax 40 minutes in. MYM were able to hold on, and looked to be fighting back for control of the game when disaster struck, and the game disconnected. After long deliberation, the admins decided to reload from the last save, which was just after the 40 minute mark.
This was too much for MYM, and KS pushed the advantage to win just 6 minutes after the reload.
So its an all-asian, truly exciting final between Malaysia and Singapore we are looking forward to today!
Once the tournament is finished, photos and interviews with some of the players will be posted, look out for these in the next day or two!
Stay tuned!
EDIT: MYM just beat EG out for 3rd place. It seems a Skeleton King with BKB, Desolator and Armlet is no match for a TB with S&Y/Eaglehorn and a Spectre with Diffusal/Radiance ^^
