Get Beta’d

Finally, the beta of Starcraft 2 has been released. GosuGamers.net is full of blogs, replays and VODs around the game. But there is one mistake: Blizzard forgot to send me my private beta key. So dear guys, I know you are humans and humans make mistakes; hence you can still send me the key, I won’t be mad for the delay… A lot of guys here at GosuGamers.net already published first impressions and pictures around Starcraft 2 at their blogs, so if you are also one of the guys whom Blizzard forgot, get your mouth watered and… well, get hyped!
Very recommended is Reiko’s blog. Even though I am jealous and hate everyone who already has a key for the beta, it’s worth a read.


Best Possible Outcome

Farm4Fame stands for high-quality DotA games. But who would have guessed, that in the last edition of the tournament MYM, DDT and Nirvana.Int have equal points? This sounds like a worthy last encounter and I am really looking forward to see impressive games. Not to forget are the finals of the last edition, where the newly formed DDT played against The Shit, which made their way through the fourth edition against teams like Blight (ex-Nirvana.Int, Tribal and DIPS). em0_llama has summarized and analyzed the two final games, the first official games containing miGGel in the lineup of DDT. If you didn’t watch the replays, do it now!


Paying for DotA lessons?

There was this one thread which has been discussed heavily at our forum this week. It started with DeMoN offering “DotA Lessons from the Pros”; the pros consist of Merlini, Fear, KuroKy and himself. This thread started a big discussion whether if it’s ok to charge money for that. Others stated that the four players mentioned “never won a major LAN tournament” and so are not allowed to give others lessons about DotA. This thread shows exactly the thinking of parts of the DotA community. There is no point in discussing if they are allowed to take money or not. They take their time to improve other’s DotA knowledge (and trust me, if you have talked to players like Puppey, you will notice how much you can learn even though you’ve played the game for 5 years now). Let’s put this discussion into another context: is a music teacher allowed to charge for teaching you how to improve your piano play; even though he/she has never written an opus. I doubt that (not).

But as it seems, there are in fact people using that offer; at least KuroKy cannot take any more requests.


The Community Challenge

Papa Drayich just published article talking about the everyday’s manners of DotA players and the general hate towards each others. I fully agree with his post; the moderators’ job could be so much more enjoyable by only pushing the good posts and not by punishing the haters. Just have a look to the flames at the HoN news. Don’t you think the time you spend playing or visiting Gosugamers (or any other DotA sites) would be more enjoyable without the flames and hate? I do think so! And so I forward his challenge to all of you. Let’s make it a time of not just fun game, but also nice attitudes and good spirit.
