01. Talk about your job on Remakes. How was the idea to start it?
Felipe: Well, the idea of Remakes came in a fight with the old staff from another community. I was a player of that community and contributor of their rooms on Garena, I programmed a safelist bot to raise the room's level. Because of this fight, I joined Made and Duke and formed Remakes (REdwind, MAde and duKE)
I was responsible for the structural part, Made would care about the forum and the people, and Duke would be responsible for promotions, events and etc.
The idea was great, we started doing everything to promote it but Made was promoted to Director of this community and Duke had university entrance examination and other personal problems, and I ended up alone.
With part of my staff supporting me, we kept putting Remakes on the Top of national DotA and today who takes care of everything is me and Kaka (I do the programming and the rest is up to her). And our staff takes care of it's respective rooms, they have autonomy to do whatever they think it's better.
Photo: Felipe "rdw"02. What is Remakes? What are its objectives?
Felipe: Remakes is a portal which is still crawling but our expectations and ambitions are big, our projects won't stop only with DotA or game leagues, we are working and organizing ourselves to set a bigger portal more wide-ranging.
03. How the game system works?
Felipe: 1. Remakes Invite: It's a room with higher level only for invited players. There are no gametests and replays for selecting players.
2. Remakes League: Where we find players with high potential, for this room we have gametest and replays for selecting the players.
3. Remakes Safe: In this room, players are getting used to the league game system, the selection is also done by gametests and replays.
4. Remakes Pub and Ladder: A room for all kind of players, where there is no league system or rank, a room accessible for players where you can have fun with your friends playing a pub game.
In those rooms where the league game system is activated, we have a bot organizing the games and setting up the rank to maintain it competitive, all games are saved in our database and the results can be seen in our website in real-time.
All players have an on-line profile updated in real-time with its victories, defeats, last played games and others statistics.
04. What are the biggest difficulties you face on the execution of a project like this?
Felipe: Find a good staff, which is competent and loyal.
A good staff is the base for growing and for all users to get familiarized with the portal.
05. Do you consider Remakes a big, if not the biggest, DotA event in Brazil?
Felipe: Surely, today Remakes is the biggest national DotA league, we are working to take our team to the next level, we are organized the same way as DXD International from Garena (league with over 5.000 players on Battle.net) and soon we will open new divisions for south-america countries.
06. With the results obtained until now, does Brazil have good players to compete in championships against professional teams form all over the world?
Felipe: With no doubts. Our players has shown that they have potential in representing the country on ESWC 2008, the final was sensational and thrilling, a match that should be watched by all players.
07. Do you think that Remakes can help finding and forming a good Brazilian DotA teams?
Felipe: Certainly yes, the best Brazilian players are on our league daily. We also have rooms to attend all kind of players, our staff is always searching for new ones who don't know about Remakes all over Garena.
08. Is there any kind of award to prominent players on Remakes?
Felipe: We distribute in our rooms mouses, mouse pads, head phones, premium members and gold members.
09. What does Remakes need to be more influential and deserves being recognized as a big event worldwide?
Felipe: Stability. Me and Karina moved to the USA and got no time to take care of Remakes, we lost much time and now we are doing everything to put the name Remakes as absolute again and establish ourselves as a icon community.
10. Who is behind this project? Who are the people that keep Remakes moving forward?
Felipe: Fortunately we count on a very competent staff which has helped a lot.
I'd like to thank them: Shivas, Slayer, Noctune, Bitta, Cesarmanara, Squallus and all the others who are daily by our side.
11. Do you think that the Brazilian DotA style is much different from European/American/Asian style?
Felipe: In my game view and having followed another leagues like IDEC, DXDi, CN Inhouse and NA-IL, I see the Brazilian game more technical like the European but a bit less defensive, giving more emotion to the matches. The American style follows a more generic line and the Asians have builds very different and most of it with much rice.
12. In Brazil, DotA is a very known game, can be noticed peaks of over 100.000 players on-line at the same time on weekends. However, it was not possible to find this year five good players worthy to have a sponsor that believes and invest on them. What is your opinion about it?
Felipe: The Brazilian sponsors still didn't notice the potential of the players and still see DotA as a hobby. Actually we have players like Polar and Frango who are equal to the international TOP teams.
13. What is missing on Brazil to enter the world DotA scene? Only sponsors or a better publishment?
Felipe: For sure the sponsorship. The best players don't have motivation to train because of the lack of support from companies.
14. Do you think the excess of bad manners in Brazil difficult the evolution process of the Brazilian DotA or it is irrelevant, since it happens in any other country?
Felipe: Bad manner will exist on any game, on the DotA community we surely have more bad manners than in other communities but I don't believe it will block the appearing of new talents.
15. To finalize, would you like to add something on what was said?
Felipe: I think all your questions were really wide-ranging related to Remakes and its operation.
