MLG qualifiers end

With the MLG Columbus closed qualifiers closing out on Sunday, all sixteen teams that will be competing for the first ever $1,000,000 major prize pool for are now known. The weekend was full of suprises, with teams that were thought to not have much of chance such as Gambit and Splyce managing to slip into one of the eight available spots. Majors recieve $1,000,000 boost

Valve revealed this week that they have quadrupled the prize pools for all future CS:GO majors, taking it from the $250,000 figure that has existed since the game's release to an impressive $1,000,000. Read a piece of Valve's full announcement below:

“ The professional CS:GO community has been growing at an incredible rate. CS:GO tournaments are now among the largest esports events in the world, drawing global audiences of millions of viewers, filling massive venues, and garnering higher prize pools. Professional CS:GO has grown, and the CS:GO Major Championships are about to grow with it. ”

Minise signs with CSGL

Lounge Gaming has been without a fifth player since the beginning of the month when Oskar "oskarish" Stenborowski was booted from the team due to his lacking performance since joining the team. However, Lounge has been trialing Jacek "minise" Jeziak to fill the spot, and now have announced this week that they will be signing him on as an offcial member of the team. 

Mongolz denied US visas

The Mongolian team were dealt a heavy blow this week as they found that that their application for a US visa to attend the MLG qualifiers had denied, meaning that they were unable to compete for a spot at Columbus next month. The team was replaced by SPLYCE at the last minute.

Tempo Storm qualify for Malmo

The Brazilian team has been on a run of good form as of recently, and they have yet again taken down another high level team this week by defeating Cloud9 in a stomp at the online qualifiers for DreamHack Masters Malmö. Their victory means they will be headed to to the tournament, alongside Team Liquid who defeated CLG to claim the second qualifying slot.
