Turner and WME | IMG aim to televise a newly formed league on TBS, a prominent US TV channel.

Two large companies, Turner, a division of Time Warner and WME|IMG, an American talent agency have come together to organise an eSporting league that they aim to televise in 2016 at the earliest. The conglomerate’s headquarters will be located in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. The aim of the project is to deliver competitive gaming events for various platforms, including live fan experiences, televised coverage exclusive to TBS, digital event coverage and content extensions.

Besides advocating eSports to the global populace, the project has broken the $250,000 prize pool barrier, unofficially set by Valve’s major CS:GO tournaments. $1,200,000 has been announced as the prize pool for the league, a great step into bringing CS:GO up to the standards of other prominent eSports.

Below is a statement made by Lenny Daniels, President of Turner Sports:

“eSports is one of the fastest growing entertainment genres among young adults around the world. We’re looking forward to creating a tremendous live event atmosphere, leveraging the infrastructure and expertise within Turner Studios, and presenting the competitions in an innovative way throughout our portfolio of leading brands.”

More details regarding the newly formed eSports league, such as the schedule and locations of events will be revealed later this year.
