Team Liquid has made, possibly, the biggest upset during the first day of IEM San Jose, by eliminating Virtus.pro with a 2-0 score.

The fourth and final match of the first day at IEM San Jose saw Virtus.pro and Team Liquid pairing the spears. The Polish team had probably come to this match as a favourite, but the North American team didn't give up that easily.
The first map of this best of three duel was de_overpass which was Team Liquid's pick. Adren and co. quickly gained control of this match, scoring round after round before they finally stopped at 13-2 at their CT side. The second half was an execution, finalising at 16-2, which left Virtus.pro totally in shock.
The second map was Virtus.pro's pick, de_mirage. Here we once again saw Team Liquid starting on the CT side, but not with the same performance as on de_overpass. This time, the North American team finished the first half with nine rounds which still gave Virtus.pro a slight chance of making a comeback. However, as soon as they switched, Liquid just crushed all Polish hopes with a final 16-9, and a very confident 2-0 win.
