Gfinity Summer Masters I is ready to kick off tomorrow with the group stage scheduled to commence on the first day: here is a full preview of the event.
Gfinity is back with yet another LAN event. This time we will be able to see the first edition of the Summer Masters where the eight teams will gather to fight for a share of $80,000. All the teams were directly invited, and even though two of the best teams at the current scene are not participating, we still can expect a pretty good show as the participants list looks very interesting.
The group stage will be played in GSL format, which means that the teams will be placed in the two groups where the each of them will act as a small double-elimination bracket. In order to advance, the teams will have to win a two matches, while losing two will mean an elimination. To make things a bit different from the regular GSL format, the tournament organizers decided to go with best-of-three series in the group stages. This will surely make them more interesting and challenging.
The top four teams will then move on to the playoffs where they will be placed into the single elimination bracket. The semifinals matches will use a best-of-three series, while the grand finals will feature a best-of-five match.
Gfinity made sure that all participating teams get share of the prize pool and therefore the prize distribution will be as follows:
1. $40,000
2. $20,000
3-4. $5,000
5-8. $2,500
The event won't lack in a good talents line-up, as we will be able to see some of the finest UK commentators, analysts and hosts. Here is a full list of the talents:
