Four teams will descend on Moscow to compete for $100,000 in the Adrenaline Cyber League.
The event, which starts on June 18 and run for just one day, will feature four of the best teams from the CIS region. Virtus Pro, Navi, Hellraisers and Flipside will be in attendance, battling for the win in front of what should be a fairly local and fanatical crowd. The teams will play through a best of three bracket, with the overall winner taking home $65,000 of the total $100k on the line, making it an attractive proposition for players local to the event, which all four teams are.
A complete schedule is yet to be announced beyond the start date of June 18, but it seems as though there will be two semi finals, with the losers of each set to receive just $5k apiece. The final will then see the remaining $90k split between the two best sides, with $25k for second and $65k for the win, as mentioned above. Exact details of the bracket are also still unknown but entry to the venue - The VTB Ice Palace - will be free to visitors. It is the same venue as 2016’s Moscow Epicenter event, which saw Astralis defeat Virtus.Pro to take the title and lion’s share of the $500,000 prize pool.
Last year’s tournament was smaller in scale and was won by Gambit. The champions will not have a chance to defend their title in 2017, however, as they are not among the included teams. Looking at the organisations invited suggests we will still have a lot of intrigue though, with many fans probably expecting VP and Na’Vi to be the main contenders despite tough times for those two organisations of late.
VP have suffered a major drop off in form in recent months, which has seen them suffer shocking and emphatic losses to lower rated teams, while Na’Vi are unable to shake the flakiness that has long dogged their play. The LAN setting and lack of SK, FaZe and the aforementioned Danes may give them the confidence they need to rediscover their former brilliance, and if they do $65k isn’t a bad sum to earn for one day of work.
