The Brazilian side of Immortals are the third team to be invited to DreamHack Open: Austin, while is set to take place toward the end of April.
Immortals joins Cloud 9 and G2 Esports, as one of the six invitees to the North American tournaments, with the final five slots yet to be filled. The eight teams will face off on April 28-30, for the chance to take the bulk of $100,000.
The Brazilians are still a new line-up, after acquiring Lincoln "fnx" Lau from SK Gaming, who took felps in return. At their first LAN with the new five, Immortals impressed, taking 3-4 place, just falling short of a finals appearance. They look to achieve the same results in Austin, with hopes to take the trophy.
Along with the South American line-up being new, they will also be put against G2, which took part in the famed French shuffle, in early 2017.
The final participants of the tournament will be decided in the coming weeks, with three taking the roles as invitees, and two more teams battling through open qualifiers.
The formatting of the group stage will see two groups of four, playing double-elimination. The top teams of both groups will make immediate playoff appearances, whilst the remaining teams in the groups will face off in best-of-three’s, ultimately deciding who goes home and who advances. The playoffs will take on a standard approach, being single-elimination, best-of-three matches.
