Round three took place last night, with GODSENT securing their placement at the ELEAGUE Major 2017 amongst other movement in the ranks.

Last night the first team to qualify for the ELEAGUE Major 2017 was determined, as GODSENT were able to secure three consecutive victories and hence land a placement at the major. The underdogs of the tournament had a rough day, as we didn't see a single convincing performance from them, whilst the teams that were supposed to emerge victorious on paper, did just that. All of the teams are now undergoing round four of the group stage.

Below you will find a brief recap of the eight match-ups that took place last night:

ELEAGUE Major qualifier - Swiss groups round three

GODSENT vs. HellRaisers
Winner:
GODSENT
Map:
de_Train - 7:8, 9:3 (16:11)
MVP:
Andreas "znajder" Lindberg

A rather convincing victory from the Swedes, securing themselves a place at the ELEAGUE Major in January. Said slot was secured after a victory on de_Train, where GODSENT kicked off on the T side. Things were very even over the course of the first half, where neither team seemed to perform particularly outstandingly. Said situation lead to a 7:8 deficit for GODSENT, which wasn't too much of a big deal, as it turned out in the second half. After switching to the CT side, the Swedes switched on and started repelling the T pressure. Aiming was on point, as was the communication, leading to a strong 9:3 second half finish and ultimately a 16:11 score.

G2 Esports vs. Vega Squadron
Winner: G2 Esports
Map:
de_Dust2 - 10:5, 6:1 (16:6)
MVP:
Richard "shox" Papillon

G2 Esports were able to demonstrate a confident victory against the Russian underdogs on de_Dust2. The Frenchmen kicked off on the T side of Dust2, where they were able to effectively snowball to a 10:5 finish at half time. The Russians attempted their best on the T side, however the level of play simply didn't match that of the CS:GO veterans, leading to a 6:1 second half score for G2 and hence a 16:6 map score.

mousesports vs. TyLoo
Winner: mousesports
Map:
de_Train - 12:3, 4:0 (16:3)
MVP:
Christian "loWel" Garcia

Another underdog team, TyLoo, was kicked down a notch after their match against mousesports. The European mix played their game, utterly decimating the Chinese defence. On the terrorist side mousesports manage a 12:3 initial half score. Having switched to the CT side, the team just closed it out with four consecutive rounds, landing a 16:3 finish against TyLoo.

Cloud9 vs. Renegades
Winner: Cloud9
Map:
de_Mirage - 12:3, 4:6 (16:9)
MVP:
Timothy "autimatic" Ta

Cloud9 are able to surpass the Aussies on de_Mirage with an interesting score considering the initial half's performance. The Americans hop on the CT side first, demonstrating a commanding defence. Renegades were utterly out of luck, scraping but three rounds on the T side. After switching sides, Renegades managed to grab a total of six, before they were punished by Cloud9 for conceding such a serious deficit at the start, concluding at a 16:9 map score.

OpTic Gaming vs. Ninjas in Pyjamas
Winner: OpTic Gaming
Map:
de_Overpass - 9:6, 7:3 (16:9)
MVP:
Will "RUSH" Wierzba

OpTic kick off on the CT side of Overpass, where both teams play a fairly even game during the initial half. The North American mix excels slightly further past the Swedes, clocking in at 9:6 before switching sides. On the T side OpTic demolish NiP, as the team plays an incredible offense, destroying any barriers imposed by the Swedish defence. 7:3 in favour of OpTic lands the team a 16:9 map score.

Team Dignitas vs. Counter Logic Gaming
Winner: Team Dignitas
Map:
de_Mirage - 8:7, 8:2 (16:9)
MVP:
Emil "Magiskb0Y" Reif

Dignitas take away de_Mirage with a decent score, knocking CLG down a shelf. The initial half saw fair play, where neither team was able to run away with anything resembling a significant lead. A single round went in favour of the Danes' T side, putting them in a slightly more favourable position. The second half was vastly different, as CLG were unable to produce anything fruitful on their T side. The defence was verging on flawless, allowing for a 16:9 finish for Dignitas.

Team EnVyUs vs. Team Spirit
???????Winner: Team EnVyUs
Map:
de_Dust2 - 13:2, 3:0 (16:2)
MVP:
Dan "apEX" Madesclaire

It was sad to see Team Spirit fall with such ease, as yet another underdog is put down by one of the more experienced teams. G2 kick off on the T side of Dust2, where they dictate the pace of the match. Ruthless pushes, effective trades and entry fragging coupled with momentum made for a 13:2 initial half in favour of the French. The second half was very much a quick culling, as the pistol along with two subsequent rounds go into the hands of G2, producing a quick 16:2 map.

FaZe Clan vs. Immortals
???????Winner: FaZe Clan
Map:
de_Mirage - 7:8, 9:3 (16:11)
MVP:
Philip "aizy" Aistrup

The final best of one of the day saw a close match between FaZe and Immortals that was ultimately secured by the European mix. The initial half saw close back and forth motion, where the Brazilians pulled a single round ahead of their opponents. Post switching sides the situation had completely changed. FaZe were dominant in their performance, securing a total of nine rounds to Immortals' three, landing them a 16:11 win.
