WESG Asia-Pacific Regional Finals group stage has concluded

WESG Asia-Pacific Regional Finals have reached the playoff stage, with eight contenders remaining in the race.
Eighteen teams from Asia and Pacific regions have been competing for two days in the group stage of WESG APAC in a best-of-two round-robin format for a prize pool of $75,000 in addition to WESG Global Finals spots. The groups were drawn as follows:
Group A wasn't merciful for the Australian sides, as Chinese CyberZen and Malaysian Fire Dragoon bested two Australian teams in their matches. Parallax defeated Immunity but the draw from CyberZen versus Fire Dragoon matchup ended their hopes for a quarter-final spot. VG.CyberZen and Fire Dragoon had the same amount of points and round difference but the Chinese side topped the group as in their match against Fire Dragoon, they won their map with a bigger margin.
In Group B, though, the Australian team Athletico continued their impressive form with two 2-0 victories and a draw, guaranteeing first place in the group stage. The 1-1 result of the MVP Project versus ENZO clash meant MVP Project had to win at least one map against Athletico because of ENZO's one map victory against the Australian side earlier, but Athletico were too good for the Korean team. As a result, ENZO followed Athletico to the playoffs.
Group C could be considered the least exciting group of the tournament as the final placements were almost clear before the final matches. Before the final matches, FIVE and Signature emerged victorious against RJ Absolute in their matches. FIVE defeated Mineski as well, while Signature gave away one map resulting in a draw. At that point Mineski needed a blowout win against RJ Absolute but before that, they were hoping for FIVE to defeat Signature. Both two matches ended as draws, meaning FIVE and Signature were the teams to advance in the first and second place respectively.
As expected, Kazakh the mixture team K23, featuring Gambit trio Dauren "AdreN" Kystaubayev, Rustem "mou" Telepov and Abay "HObbit" Khasenov, dominated Group D. Expendables found themselves at the bottom of the group as they were able to grab just one map in three best-of-two clashes. Despite losing one map to Expendables, Orange secured second place by beating m0nster.
The quarter-finals matches have set the group leaders against second placed teams:
FIVE vs. ENZO
VG.CyberZen vs. Orange
K23 vs. Signature
Athletico vs. Fire Dragoon
The winners of these matches will secure their spots at the WESG Global Finals. Additional matches will be played between the losers to determine two teams that will join the semi-finalists at the global finals.
