Team EnVyUs have beaten Epsilon in a best-of-five semi-final at the Gfinity CS:GO Invitational, securing the Frenchmen a placement in the Grand final of the $100,000 prize pool event.

The French roster of Team EnVyUs has successfully paved the way to the Grand final of the Gfinity CS:GO Invitational, after a long four maps against the Swedish Epsilon. The team will be facing today's victor of the Mousesports vs. GODSENT matchup in the Grand final of the invitational, taking place tomorrow at 12:30am CEST. Below you will find a brief overview of the series.

Gfinity CS:GO Invitational - Semi-final #1

Team EnVyUs vs. Epsilon
Winner:  Team EnVyUs
Maps: de_Mirage, de_Cobblestone, de_Cache, de_Nuke - 10:5, 6:0 (16:5); 9:6, 5:10 (14:16); 3:12, 12:3, 7:4 (22:19); 9:6, 7:1 (16:7)
MVP:  Dan "apEX" Madesclaire

The first of four maps was de_Mirage, where the French didn't seem to meet much resistance. EnVyUs start on the T side of the map, secure a formidable lead going into the second half. The team simply outperformed their opponent, culminating in a 10:5 first half for the French. After half time Epsilon weren't able to push the French back, resulting in a disappointing end to the map, where the team didn't secure a single round on the T side. EnVyUs secure Mirage 16:5.

Next was de_Cobblestone, where the Swedes demonstrated their capabilities, in turn proving that they can indeed show results against top teams. Epsilon kick off on the T side, where they saw a shaky start, as EnVyUs were able to fend off their aggression most of the rounds. Despite this, the team was able to secure six rounds to nine, a reasonable score going into the second half. This is where the Swedes really came through - they were commanding on the CT side, so much so that the team was able to go 10:5 against one of the finest teams in the world, grabbing the second map 16:14.

Third up we saw de_Cache, the longest map of the series. EnVyUs were caught out on the CT side of the map, landing themselves in a bad spot going into the second half. Epsilon dominated throughout, amassing a gargantuan 12:3 lead prior to switching to the CT side of the server. Despite a seemingly inescapable defeat, the years of experience shone through and EnVyUs were slowly recuperating round by round, ultimately securing an overtime against Epsilon. We saw a total of two overtimes that finally concluded with a skew towards Team EnVyUs, as the Frenchmen took away the map 22:19.

To round out the day the teams played a match on de_Nuke, a map we're seeing progressively more of as teams are slowly adapting to it. EnVyUs launched on the T side of the map, where the team experienced some resistance from the Swedes. The French were able to secure a lead prior to entering the second half, perhaps not as large one as intended. The teams switch sides after EnVyUs secure 9:6 on the first half of de_Nuke. After transferring onto the CT side, the Frenchmen had little to no difficulty closing out the match, as it was apparent that Epsilon were not able to oppose them. Team EnVyUs close out the best-of-five series in four maps, securing a placement in the Grand final of the Gfinity CS:GO Invitational.
