What are the GosuRankings?

The GosuRankings is the most extensive player and team database in existence for CS:GO. Fueled by the GosuGamers tournament database which currently spans over more than 270 tournaments, the CS:GO rankings track teams’ career-long performance in all tournaments, qualifiers and show matches they take part in and appoints them a certain numbers. The rankings also take into account the so called “tournament importance” meaning winning the Major tournament means more than coming on top of a weekly open cup.

Below, we take a look at the bigger events that happened in the month of May.

  • Note 1: May's results aren't solely responsible for the final rankings; they merely add to players' lifetime career performances.
  • Note 2: Tournament importance varies even within a particular tier (i.e. not all tier 2 events are equal)
  • Note 3: Tiers are NOT the official way of determining/naming tournament importance by GosuCrew. These are used so that some basic mechanics of the system are articulated better to our readers.

World's top 3

All ranking numbers are as of . It's possible  that rankings have changed at press time.

Everyone had a hard time stopping Fnatic. Although the Swedes experienced a slump following their win at ESL One Katowice, they still managed to overcome all the issues and get back on the winning track. Although they didn’t show a great performance at FACEIT LAN, they still managed to make a comeback at DH Tours and Gfinity Masters 2.

Fnatic was the team with the most wins throughout the previous month with a record of 22-3-4. They have played numerous matches using stand-ins due to different reasons. The most recent one was olofmeister’s surgery which put him away from the PC for a week. They even underwent an internal role change where pronax was moved from the in-game caller position and flusha tried holding the leading stick. However, the only team which had a solution for Fnatic’s play was Team Solomid who managed to beat the Swedes three times and lose to them only once.

Team Solomid is the most pleasant surprise of this part of the year. The Danish team was known as one of the highest individually skilled teams in the current scene, but still they have always struggled to make any decent results. It was even thought that the team was cursed at finishing as the third. However, this was all left behind once they showed a great performance in March at CCS LAN finals which then was followed by yet another win at FACEIT LAN.

Karrigan has definitely brought something important to this team. Although he joined at the start of this year, the Danes still needed a bit of time to oil their machines and everything came into its place during the previous month. TSM showed great results which put them into the top two teams of the current scene. The Danish team finished May with a record of 21-1-6 which is only one win less than Fnatic, indicating how close these two teams were. It’s likely to happen that TSM overtake the first spot from Fnatic in the June if they maintain this level of play.

If Team Solomid is the most pleasant surprise, then we can say that Natus Vincere is one of the most improved teams of the previous month. Following the roster change in the late March which added flamie to the lineup, Na’Vi slowly started building consistency in their results. This culminated with the ESL Pro League LAN win in April, and ever since then Na’Vi was showing a great results against the top tier teams.

The CIS team had a record of 17-5-7, but what is even more important than a big number of wins is that these wins were mostly achieved against the top tier teams. They lost only to Fnatic, TSM and once to Virtus.pro but still managed to beat EnVyUs everytime they played each other, which is very impressive. However, it looks like the Ukrainian guys have yet to solve some issues which they have with the closing of the matches. They have actually lost against those tier one teams by letting them steal the win out of their hands in the last few rounds.

Live rankings' top 10

The standings show that the fight in top 10 is a close one: The all teams are neck-and-neck with each other and we will separate them into the two groups in order to more easily break them down.

The first group is from the 1st place down to 6th where we can see the same five teams for the whole month. Fnatic and TSM were exchanging the leading spot, where the rest of the teams were swapping in the 3-6th place. EnVyUs, NiP and Virtus.pro were looking for their form throughout the whole month and we are yet to see if they managed to find it for this month.

Leading the second group is mousesports. The German team mixed it up this month, bringing in ex-Penta trio to refresh their line-up. This has led into a number of improved results which put them high on the 7th spot. The next team which has been greatly performing throughout the May is Team Dignitas. The second Danish team in top 10 showed very good results even against the best teams where the most recent one is Virtus.pro’s elimination in GameShow League.

The next in line is the North American powerhouse, Cloud9. Widely considered the best NA team, C9 has also picked up new players, fREAKAZOiD and Skadoodle. Even with the addition of an excellent entry fragger and one of the best AWPs in the world, the team has still been putting up mixed results; however their spot wasn’t changed due to the amount of points which they have collected earlier this year. And finally for the tenth spot, we saw a big battle between HellRaisers and Titan. The both teams showed that they are capable of winning against anyone, but still they managed to fail against weaker teams. In order for them to move up they will need to find some more consistency in their play. HellRaisers recent announcement that they will be moving their team to a gaming house will hopefully give the CIS team the edge they need to take finally propel them into tier one.
